Server Administration training for Timorese IT officers |

Timor-Leste Media Development Centre ( TLMDC) in collaboration with SEACeM- based in Malaysia carried out a five day training on Free BSD ( Server Administration UNIX/Linux) on June 18-22, 2007 in Dili, Timor-Leste. The importance of the training was to provide broad understanding of Server Administration system to all participants by introduction the basic of FreeBSD and how they will apply in the daily works. |

Funded through the UNESCO’s Information for All Project (IFAP), TLMDC was working in conjunction with Radio Comunidade Lospalos (RCL) to provide a multi-purpose resource centre. The project will enable the expansion of services already available to journalists in the TLMDC office. These two centers will be enhanced as “information hubs of the community” for exchange of information on developmental, education and cultural issues and program materials within the community radio sector. |

Community Radio Business Development Training The January 2005 assessment of media needs in Timor-Leste determined that a major weakness in the development of an independent media in Timor-Leste is a lack of business training, including ways to generate income, managing and budgeting income, and business planning. The lack of these fundamental skills is an obstacle for smaller media organizations to gain access to grants and donor assistance. |
